Chalong Charcoal Grilled Meat Asian fusion restaurant in Singapore is located within One Raffles Place shopping centre (1 Raffles Place).
Established by Chef-owner Elin Boh in 2016, the outlet is a culinary haven that has captured the hearts and taste buds of locals and visitors alike.
Elin Boh started the restaurant armed with a grand diploma for pastry and cuisine from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and another grand diploma from the prestigious Oliver Bajard International School of Patisserie in Perpignan, France.
The inspiration behind the outlet’s inception traces back to Chef Boh’s visit to Chalong in Phuket, where he encountered a well-known delicacy — charcoal-grilled pork. The unforgettable taste of this pork inspired him to establish a presence in Singapore, bringing the essence of the dish to a new audience.
What sets the Asian fusion restaurant apart is its commitment to quality meats. The beef is air-flown from New Zealand, while the pork is sourced from Spain.
These meats undergo the transformative process of charcoal-grilling and smoking in apple wood using a Josper Oven, resulting in a unique blend of flavors, smokiness, and an unparalleled texture.
Freshness and quality are also non-negotiable elements. Only the finest ingredients, such as Japanese Yamagata Haneuki rice, Himalayan salt, and Denmark butter, are used in the preparation of the dishes.
A crowd favorite at Chalong Charcoal Grilled Meat is the signature Grass-fed Black Angus Striploin. Served in thin strips of medium-rare beef, brushed in Himalayan salt, and crowned around a mi-cuit (half-cooked) egg, this dish is a masterpiece. The French red wine sauce drizzled over the top adds a glistening finish, inducing salivation at first glance.
Another standout on the menu is the 18-hour sous vide jowl accompanied by homemade chili sauce. The pork jowl, tender and juicy on its own, is complemented by the spicy kick of the chili sauce, creating a perfect harmony of flavors.
For those seeking a more complete and wholesome meal, Chalong offers customizable options. Customers can add grilled asparagus, grilled tomatoes, extra rice, and a mi-cuit egg to enhance their dining experience.
