Cheng San Library, a popular community public library in Singapore, operates within Hougang Mall, at 90 Hougang Avenue 10.
The library, which covers an area of 1,467 square meters, was officially opened on 6 March 1997.
Services within the public library are primarily intended for the residents within North East Singapore, Upper Paya Lebar, Hougang, Sengkang, as well as Serangoon.
The library has a collection size of 178,068 books, 2,630 audio-visual items, and 4,653 serials and local newspaper titles to choose from.
Among the public library highlights are also artistic spaces, reading spaces, a children’s section, multimedia stations, an activity room, and a book drop service.
Often, the library also organizes storytelling and school holiday programs, user education and information literacy programs, library outreaches, performances, talks and workshops, plus exhibitions and displays.
