Flavours of Ishikawa, a Japan store in Singapore specializing in Ishikawa Prefecture, is located within Takashimaya Shopping Centre (391A Orchard Road). (UPDATE 2021: THE POP UP SHOP HAS CLOSED)
The store, a pop-up concept that is available through a four month period from October 1, 2020, to February 10, 2021, introduces visitors to the Japanese region of Ishikawa.
Available for purchase at the store are various types of regional Japanese foodstuff, delicious tidbits, sakes and umeshus, healthy foods, savory sweets, beautiful Kutaniyaki ceramics, Wajima lacquerware, intricate Japanese traditional crafts, gold leaf crafts, and much more.
The pop-up store, which operated similarly during late 2019 to early 2020, is also a tourist centre for the region, introducing Singaporeans to the flavours of Ishikawa from the region’s wonderful scenery and beautiful sights to the mouth-watering cuisine and some of the best onsens (hot springs) in Japan.
As a tourist region, Ishikawa Prefecture has everything from rugged yet calming coastlines at the Noto Peninsula to refreshing onsen towns at the Kaga region on the foothills of Mt. Hakusan, and a capital city of Kanazawa with modern shopping districts and contemporary art museums that also has some of the best preserved geisha and tea house districts and samurai residences.
