Keong Saik Bakery, especially popular for their signature pastry Sor Hei in Singapore, is located within Chinatown area, at 33 Keong Saik Road.
The bakery, established by Tan Yuzhong and Ng Beng Soon in June 2017 and operating with a tagline of “Traditional. Nostalgic. Contemporary.“, aims to bridge the past and present through varying baking styles and flavour combinations.
Many menu items at the bakery shop combine modern styles & techniques with traditional & local flavours for a tinge of nostalgia.
Being located on Keong Saik Road provided them with an opportunity to promote a part of the history of the street, namely the Majies, via a signature pastry, Sor Hei.
This signature pastry, shaped like a hair bun, is a tribute to the Majies and symbolic of the historic Majie ceremony that includes combing up their hair.
Apart from the signature item, the bakery shop menu has categories of Whole Cakes, Cakes, Cruffins, Viennoiserie, Breads, Sandwiches, Loaves, Pastry, European Breads, as well as Chinese New Year (Seasonal).
