Japanese tonkatsu restaurant chain Saboten has three locations in Singapore, including one at the 100AM Mall (100 Tras Street).
Established in 1996 in Tokyo, Japan, Saboten specializes in Japanese tonkatsu (breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet) foods.
Saboten, which means “cactus” in Japanese (from the founder’s vision of creating a company that will thrive even in the harshest of conditions), uses only the best ingredients to create the perfect signature tonkatsu.
In the preparation of the meals, the premium pork is lightly coated with Saboten’s house-made bread crumbs to ensure the juice of the cutlets is preserved.
Also, Saboten’s tonkatsu is accompanied with their special sauce, which is made of onions, carrots, tomatoes, apples, and over 10 different spices to bring out the best flavors.
Beyond pork, there are varieties of katsu at the restaurant’s menu, including chicken, prawn, crab, scallops, oyster, and beef. You can also order salads (Daikon, garden, chicken).
In addition to dining in, you can order tonkatsu takeaway bento, which comes with rice, cabbage, and pickles.
Beverage selection at the Saboten locations features tea, orange juice, apple juice, Pepsi, Pepsi Light, 7-Up, mineral water, Santory beer, Sapporo beer, Japanese sake, and Ozeki Hana Awaka sparkling sake.
