Spice & Rice food stall, a great place to taste Nasi Lemak in Singapore, is located within Amoy Street Food Centre (7 Maxwell Road). (UPDATE 2023: THE STALL HAS CLOSED)
Open to customers since August 2020, the hawker stall brings back the old heritage flavours that have disappeared from the mainstream food scene.
One such flavour is that of the classic Nasi Lemak – a dish originating in Malay cuisine that consists of fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf.
At the outlet, they have gone back to the basics to bring the best out of each essential ingredients in the dish, using basmati rice and cooking it with light coconut milk and a blend of fragrant ingredients.
For the chicken, it is marinated overnight in a fusion of 16 spices, pairing perfectly with the flavourful basmati coconut rice and homemade sambal sauce.
Beyond Classic Nasi Lemak Fried Chicken (Indian spiced fried chicken, anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, cucumber, sambal & coconut rice), other menu items at the food stall include Butter Chicken (slow-cooked butter chicken, okra, tempeh, coconut rice) and Mutton Curry (slow-cooked mutton curry, okra, tempeh, coconut rice).
