There are three Suage Hokkaido Soup Curry Japanese restaurants in Singapore to choose from, including one within Capitol Singapore mall (13 Stamford Road). (UPDATE 2022: THE OUTLETS HAVE CLOSED)
Founded in November 2007, Suage, which is a name derived from the Japanese word meaning “to fry”, specializes in Hokkaido-style soup curry.
Other than ramen and Jingisukan (Japanese grilled mutton), Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, is culinary-wise best known for the region’s delicious soup curry.
Hokkaido-style soup curry is a herbal curry that was created in Sapporo in the 1970s, and mixes spices together with chicken, pork and vegetables, giving it a unique, delightful taste.
In addition, the restaurant is particular about the rice used in the dishes – Nanatsuboshi rice from Hokkaido is both light tasting and has a sticky texture.
Popular soup curry varieties on the menu include Chicken ‘Kushiyaki’, Pork ‘Kakuni’, Sumiyaki Lamb, Prawn & Lotus Root, and Tofu (Vegetarian). There are also ramen dishes to choose from like Tonkotsu Ramen and Curry Ramen.
