The Blue Ginger – 2 Peranakan Restaurants in Singapore

There are two The Blue Ginger Peranakan restaurants in Singapore to choose from, including one outlet at Great World shopping mall (1 Kim Seng Promenade).

Serving customers since 1995, the restaurant offers a menu created out of authentic Peranakan & Straits Chinese cuisine.

Inspiration behind the restaurant concept comes from the way “Nonya”, or Straits Chinese lady, often the matriarch of the family, would bring the entire family together over a mouth-watering spread of spicy and aromatic dishes.

From these fond memories of the founders, the restaurant was created through a desire to share the unique culture with others and to give the gift of hearty feasts just like at grandma’s.

Highlights on the menu include such delights as Bakwan Kepiting (minced pork and crab meat shaped into meatballs with fine slices of bamboo shoots), Satay Babi (pan-fried lean pork slices marinated in spices)…

Ayam Buah Keluak.

Ayam Panggang “Blue Ginger” (boneless chicken thigh grilled and flavored with coconut milk rich in exotic spices), Udang Goreng Tauyu Lada (sauteed prawns with pepper in sweet dark soya sauce), as well as Nonya Noodles (yellow noodles, wok-fried with rich prawn stock, flavored with bean paste).
