The Old Man Singapore, a Hemingway themed cocktail bar, is located within Outram district, at 55 Keong Saik Road.
Created by Agung Prabowo, James Tamang, and Roman Ghale, the bar takes inspiration from the 1952 Ernest Hemingway novel “The Old Man and the Sea”, which is about a Cuban fisherman and the biggest catch of his life.
The themed bar, where every drink has a story to tell, features a distinctly Asian touch for a great place to gather and sip on inventive drinks in the memory of the brilliant writer.
It’s no secret that Hemingway’s life-blood was booze, for him and his fictional characters. He was, in fact, a sophisticated drinker, a connoisseur of fine spirits, who sought out the best bars wherever he went, from Paris to Pamplona.
Overall, the intimate speakeasy, which has locations also in Hong Kong, honors Hemingway by taking cues from his novels, history, and folklore, paying tribute to the spirits and cocktails the man loved by using appropriate ingredients.
